Maya Wilbourne ~ My Senior Story

Trinity is special to me because it allows me to express my hobbies and interests with acceptance and positivity. Being in a community that respects everyone for their individuality and values allows for the creation of all different types of relationships.

I chose the University of Oregon due to its excellent Human Physiology program. Known for its experiential learning approach, strong faculty, and focus on hands-on learning experiences like their Human Cadaver Dissection Lab. They also have a wide variety of diversity and cultures. Being in a school that allows me to share my Taiwanese heritage and has Mandarin as a minor is also important to me. I also chose Oregon to be closer to family and as well as my family from Taiwan.

My advice to Future Blazers is don’t be afraid to share who you are or who you want to be. As a student who went to co-ed public school, I was scared to share my passion and hobbies because of the fear of judgment and uncertainty. Trinity has allowed me to share my experiences and culture without feeling judged and feel accepted at school, especially being in my teenage years, it is important to show kindness and respect to everyone.
