Trinity utilizes the STS High School Placement test. The HSPT has five sections: Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Math and Language (English). Trinity's Entrance Exam also includes a brief student writing prompt.
Important Information for Trinity's testers:
There is a $25 Entrance Exam Fee. You can also pay at the door morning of the exam (cash or check please.)
Calculators are not allowed for the exam.
Students should bring two #2 pencils.
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle.
Students must test at Trinity High School on Saturday, December 6 to be eligible for Trinity's merit scholarships.
Print, sign, and return the following forms to your daughter's elementary school: Elementary Record Release Form and the Archdiocese of Chicago High School Pre-Admission form. This form will authorize the release of grammar school records to Trinity. Federal and state laws require parents to consent to this exchange of information, which is in your daughter’s best interests.
Trinity High School offers limited testing accommodations for the entrance exam. Those students requesting an accommodation are asked to provide a copy of the IEP/504 Service Plan to the director of admissions in advance of testing day.

Trinity offers scholarships to incoming freshmen who take the entrance exam at Trinity High School on December 6. Available scholarships and criteria are as follows:
$40,000 scholarship ($10,000 renewable annually) to students who score at the 99th percentile or higher on Trinity's entrance exam on December 6, 2025. Renewable for all four years based on the student maintaining a minimum of 3.0 GPA, no serious disciplinary action, and completion of required service projects. Students will have until March 1st to submit the Principal letter of recommendation and personal statement.
$24,000 scholarship ($6,000 renewable annually) to students who score at the 95th to 98th percentile on Trinity's entrance exam on December 6, 2025. Renewable for all four years based on student maintaining a minimum of 3.0 GPA, no serious discipline action, and completion of required service projects. Students will have until March 1st to submit Principal letter of recommendation and personal statement.
$12,000 ($3,000 renewable annually) scholarship to students who score at the 90th to 94th percentile on Trinity's entrance exam on December 6, 2025. Renewable for all four years based on student maintaining a minimum of 3.0 GPA, no serious disciplinary action, and completion of required service projects. Students will have until March 1st to submit Principal letter of recommendation and personal statement.
$6,000 scholarship ($1,500 renewable annually) awarded to a student whose mother, father or legal guardian is a Veteran of the United States Military or works for your community police or fire department or the Illinois State Police Department. Application and student essay must be submitted by March 1.
$4,000 scholarship ($1,000 renewable annually) awarded to an incoming freshman who is a Trinity legacy. The selection for this scholarship recognizes a student’s excellent leadership, moral character, and exemplary service in elementary school. Additionally, an essay is submitted that provides the connectivity between her and Trinity, something that was so valued by Triss Brady Meyer ‘67.
$1000 nonrenewable scholarship awarded to an incoming freshman who is a daughter or granddaughter of a Trinity alumna. Award is based on academic performance and leadership, character, and service qualities displayed during the junior high years.
$1000 nonrenewable award presented to one incoming freshman from each of the following grade schools where the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters taught: St. Giles, St. Vincent Ferrer, and St. Luke. Consideration is given to class standing, teacher/principal recommendation, qualities of leadership, character, and service.
