Since the early days of the pandemic, Araceli Rincon and her husband Junior Pinal, who manage Aracely’s Bakery in LaGrange, have donated meals to the employees of dozens of Chicago area hospitals.   “This hit home with us,” Pinal said of the pandemic. “My sister-in-law is a nurse practitioner. She and my wife took the first meal to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn in March out of the kindness of their hearts. We didn’t realize how this would blow up.”

Since that first meal, the bakery has received monetary donations that have allowed them to donate well over 500 meals and counting.

“We want these workers to know that we are supporting them and stand behind them,” said Pinal. “Some of the health care workers that I’ve spoken with feel like they’ve been forgotten since we are under the shelter in place order. These meals are a small token of our appreciation, but they mean a lot.”
A $10 donation allows Aracely’s to donate one meal that includes a sandwich, chips, cookies, and a soft drink. Pinal said that they also throw in tamales, muffins and bread.
