Blazers Welcome Back Osborne To Lead Softball Program
On Monday, Trinity High School and the Blazers’ Athletic Department announced the return of Bob Osborne to the position of head softball coach. Osborne coached with the Blazers for 19 years (1997-2016), including the Blazers’ second-place finish in the 2010 IHSA 3A State Tournament, the highest finish in school history.
After taking a step back from coaching to focus on his family, Osborne was set to return last season at Guerin Prep before the COVID-19 global pandemic put those plans on hold when spring sports were canceled. Osborne now returns to Trinity where he will guide the Blazers not just on the field.
“Sports train students for the real world,” said Osborne. “The lessons learned on the field can be just as important as those learned in the classroom.”
“I am excited to add a coach with the resume and legacy that Bob has built over his career,” said Ken Trendel, Trinity’s Athletic Director. “Bob put Trinity softball on the map when he was here for nearly twenty years and I look forward to seeing him mold the program into a program we will all be proud of. Bob bleeds Trinity blue...he has always supported the program even when he wasn’t coaching here. We are lucky to have him return and excited to welcome him back home.”
