Alumnae Leadership Award

Carolyn grew up in Oak Park, IL and attended St. Giles grade school (Class of 1975) and Trinity High School (Class of 1979), where she was valedictorian.  Carolyn graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame (Class of 1983) and an MS in Applied Statistics from DePaul University (Class of 2015).

Carolyn started her career at Motorola’s Automotive & Industrial Electronics Group in Schaumburg, IL.  She is currently a Principal Staff Engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt with Schaeffler Automotive Group in Deer Park, IL.  Over the course of her 41-year career, she has supported the design, manufacture, and analysis of automotive pressure sensors and exhaust and emissions sensors which help promote clean air.
In the volunteer realm, Carolyn is a past board member and current President’s Council member at Almost Home Kids, an organization that provides respite care and transitional care from hospital-to-home for medically fragile children.  She served on the program committee as one of the original team members that created a protocol for presenting demographic statistics and outcomes of care for the children served by Almost Home Kids.
At the University of Notre Dame, Carolyn met her husband Joe, who is also an engineer.  Their sons, Tom (and his wife Alyssa), Michael, and Brian, have brought them much joy and are an endless source of pride.  Carolyn currently lives in Elmwood Park, IL, and enjoys traveling, music, Broadway shows, watching sports, and getting together with family and friends, especially her Trinity classmates.
