About IB: Trinity's Global Link
Trinity High School is affiliated with the International Baccalaureate Organization so that we may offer our academically talented and motivated students a rigorous, challenging curriculum. One hundred and twenty four countries are home to approximately 1,895 authorized IB world schools at this time. There are over 1,000 in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Over 180 nationalities are represented in the organization worldwide.
The International Baccalaureate curriculum is designed for juniors and seniors who choose to follow the full diploma program or select particular subjects of study as partial diploms candidates. The full diploma program centers on six subject areas, three of which are studied on the higher level and three others on the standard level. Diploma candidates are required to perform 150 community service hours, write a 4000 word essay on a topic of interest, and take a course entitled Theory of Knowledge which aims to integrate learning and thinking across the curriculum. Students may enroll in both college preparatory courses and in IB courses such as English, foreign language, history, biology, chemistry, math studies, math methods, art, fil study, and ITGS (Information Technology in a Global Society). Many partial diploma candidates enroll in a maximum of five IB courses, and like their full diploma colleagues, have the opportunity to receive college credit for their achievement in these courses.
Currently 56% of our student body is enrolled in IB or in Trinity’s pre-IB classes. Students who excel in specific subject areas may choose to enroll in Trinity’s pre-IB and IB classes as their honors courses. Students who remain enrolled in the full IB program during their junior and senior years are eligible to test for the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma, one that is recognized by colleges and universities worldwide as a most distinguished preparatory program for university studies. Students who receive an International Baccalaureate Diploma or Certificate may be eligible to earn college credit.
