Sophia Darski ~ My Senior Story
"Trinity High School has guided me through some of the most unavoidable obstacles of self-discovery, which is a reason why this institution will always hold a special place in my heart. I have transformed into a passionate leader who prioritizes compassion and understanding for myself and others. Trinity has led me to find lifelong friends, as well as teachers who are passionate about teaching and supporting their students. I will cherish these people and experiences forever.
There is something about loud music and the consequent human instinct to jump and dance around that has the power to unify a whole student body. My favorite Trinity tradition has always been the rooted school spirit that is basically treated as sacred. Whether it's Spirit Week, all-school assemblies, or music during passing periods on Fridays, the normalized dancing and singing is an amazing asset to Trinity that does not go unnoticed.
If I could give any piece of advice to first-day-of-high-school-popped-collar-Sophia, I would tell her to never lose sight of what she wants for herself. Coming into high school, I was absolutely terrified of what this next chapter of my life would be like. This overwhelm of new people, new school, and new expectations did not sit well for me, and it closed me off into a box of doing things because it felt like everyone else was, or even not allowing myself to take opportunities because no one else was taking them. Change is a terrifying concept to accept, so it is inevitable to feel anxious by the huge amounts of “new” that comes your way, but change can also be one of the greatest steps in finding who you are and what kind of person you want to become. I don’t think future Blazers will really understand the extent of that until perhaps they sit behind their computers typing their class of 2026 senior stories, but I believe that doing what will make you happy, feel successful, and proud of yourself is ultimately in your control. Accomplishing things for YOU will make your high school experience and everything that happens within four years so much more rewarding and fulfilling. Do it for you!
I cannot recall exactly why or when, but sometime during my junior year I had this desire to end up in California, and it was all I ever thought about. I worked tirelessly during my junior and senior years to ensure that this dream would become my future. Although I might have lost a little too much sleep, the nonstop running to get what I needed to get done was worth it. I am eternally grateful and excited to have this opportunity to apply the knowledge and experiences that I have gained from Trinity to the west coast."
