The week kicks off with an introduction to bookbinding vocabulary and the pamphlet stitch technique, which participants use to create their softcover notebook. From there, the focus shifts to the picture book: each participant selects a song to serve as the basis for their book, then spends the middle of the week drafting layouts, arranging images and text, and preparing everything for print.
The final days are dedicated to assembling and binding the hardcover picture books, culminating in a Show & Tell where participants share their finished work. Dominican librarians guide participants through every step. No prior experience with bookmaking or design is necessary!
