Thinking Like a Researcher

Participants will learn how to turn a broad topic into a focused research question, build effective search strategies using library databases and credible web sources, and evaluate evidence for quality and bias. Along the way, they’ll practice taking organized notes and citing sources correctly.

Each day balances short lessons with guided work time and personalized Dominican University librarian feedback, so participants can make real progress on their own topics rather than working through abstract exercises.

The week builds toward a polished research guide or infographic that maps out the steps, sources, and strategies for researching their chosen topic. Participants will leave with stronger academic confidence and a repeatable research process that they can use in future classes!
