Trinity Seniors Volunteer for Special Olympics

Trinity seniors volunteered for the Special Olympics Bocce Ball Tournament on Saturday. Following is a letter we received from a parent of a participant:
“I am the parent of a Special Olympics athlete who participated at the bocce tournament on Saturday in Elmhurst. I am writing to give you some feedback on your students who volunteered that day. The young ladies from your school were absolutely excellent at what they were doing. The level of enthusiasm, the level of genuine camaraderie, the care with which they approached each athlete as an individual was overwhelming. Their entire, beautiful Saturday was not only given to our athletes, but it was given in a spirit of joy, enthusiasm and celebration. And these young ladies rose to the occasion. They are a testimony both to your educators and your school. You, your staff, and their parents must be very proud of them. With all the ‘resume writing’ going on these days (test scores, sports records, etc.) this is one area that can be difficult to discern on a college application. I am sure ‘Volunteering with Special Olympics’ cannot convey what we saw on Saturday. But in the hearts of the athletes, parents and coaches, what your students gave on Saturday was priceless. ”
