Trinity High School is thrilled to welcome Sister Judith Schaefer, O.P., serving as Interim President. Born and raised in Denver, Sister Judith went to a Sinsinawa Dominican School where she felt an immediate connection to the order. During her years as a professed member of the Congregation, she has had the opportunity and privilege to minister in many places and capacities. Sister Judith Schaefer has served as President of Cotter Schools since 2012. Sister came to Cotter from Saint Mary’s University where she served as Professor of Theology.
Sister Judith is a professed member of the Sinsinawa Dominicans. She completed her doctorate at Marquette University, and she holds a Master of Divinity degree and a Masters in Pastoral Studies degree. Her bachelor’s degree is in education from Northeastern Illinois University. Sister Judith has ministered in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Montana, prior to coming to Winona, Minnesota in 2000.
Sister Judith has recently been named a recipient of the 2019 Minnesota Independent School Forum (MISF) Leadership Award.
The MISF Leadership Award recognizes the hard work and dedication of school heads, presidents, principals, superintendents, or executive directors. The award celebrates the ability of its recipients to instill passion in themselves and the people with whom they work; to bring innovative ideas forward and to fruition; and to understand how to help move change forward in an organization by effectively communicating with key internal and external stakeholders to help them understand and participate in the change process.
She will be presented with her award at the 2019 Private and Independent Education Awards on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the University of Saint Thomas.
Sister Judith is honored and excited to serve as Interim President at Trinity, and to further foster and support a community of unity that honors diversity and is enriched by it.
