Trinity High School choral teacher, Linda Crabtree Powell, has had her book, Compelling Choral Concerts, published by GIA Publications, Inc.
A book signing and reception are planned to celebrate on Tuesday, November 11th, from 3:30-4:30pm in the Trinity High School library. Books are available for purchase on the GIA Publications, Inc. website at, http://www.giamusic.com/search_details.cfm?title_id=24043.
Compelling Choral Concerts contains 13 ready-made plans for choral programs unified by theme and dramatic narration. They provide an inspiring template for creating programs with helpful guidelines for arts educators. Each performance script offers new dimensions to presenting and understanding the music. Singers and audiences alike will be both excited and delighted. “Food, Fun, Festivities”, one of the programs included in the book, will be performed at Trinity High School’s Fine & Performing Arts Evening on December 17th at 7:00 p.m. Gallery opening is at 6:30 and there is no admission fee.

Linda Crabtree Powell, of River Forest, IL, is an experienced and noted choral teacher whose innovative choral programs have attracted a great deal of praise. Her Trinity choirs have traveled and performed in Toronto, Ireland, and Spain as well as annual holiday performances at the Art Institute of Chicago and other museums. All of the published programs in Compelling Choral Concerts have been performed at Trinity. In addition, Ms. Crabtree Powell founded the acclaimed B.R.A.V.O! (Band, Repertoire, Art, Vocal, Orchestra) arts program when a music teacher in Oak Park, Illinois. Her script collaborator, the late Valerie Sokol, was active as an actor, director, playwright, and teacher of English. Additional scripts are by Julia Buckley, who teachers high school English at Trinity High School and is a published author of mystery novels.
