Students are invited to consider partaking in the following upcoming service opportunities!

 

Incoming Student Help at Trinity High School

What: making phone calls and writing notecards to incoming students.

When: Wednesday, May 9th, after school

Where: Room 102 at Trinity

Wright Plus 2018 – Frank Lloyd Wright Walks

What: prepare and maintains venue for the party that celebrates all our dedicated volunteers at the end of Wright Plus.  If you are interested in architecture or just want to get involved in your community please consider volunteering.

Benefits of Volunteering: helping in your community, exposure to great architecture, Wright Plus Preview Night, 7 Service Hours.

When: May 19th – 2:30pm-9:30pm

Where: Backyard of the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio in Oak Park

Ten Thousand Villages – Fair Trade Store Volunteer

What: Ten Thousand Villages in Oak Park is a fair trade store looking for students to be volunteers over the summer. As a customer service volunteer, you will share the stories of our artisans and their crafts with our customers and enjoy a 20% discount!

When: determined by your schedule

Where: Downtown Oak Park, Marion Street, Oak Park, IL

Requirements: 16 years old or older, Computer literate, Able to go up and down stairs easily, Able to carry merchandise with care, Available evenings and/or weekends, Enjoy working with the public, Attend 2 training classes: May 20 & 21 (approx. 2.5 hrs. each), Work 10 hours per month

Teen Service Week Chicago – June 23rd-June 29th

What: a week spent with local students from parishes and schools in Chicagoland doing service, learning about justice, working with local non profits, and exploring faith’s place in it all.

Mission statement: A call from within our own boundaries. We believe in the power of teenagers and adults coming together for a common cause. We believe that when people join together in a spirit of solidarity, all are enriched. We believe that we are called by Christ to minister to those in need as they, in turn, minister to us. Based on these beliefs, Teen Service Week is dedicated to bringing together people …in an atmosphere of service, community, prayer, and simple living for the purpose of building relationships that affect social change while growing together in faith.

When: June 23rd-June 29th

Where: Maria Kaupus Center, Chicago and area non profits

Cost: $175 for an entire week of accomodations and supplies

Azrael’s Place/Petcos in North Riverside and River Forest

What: volunteer to come visit the animals available for adoption; help to clean, feed, and socialize them.

When: flexible schedule based on your availability

Where: Petco in  North Riverside 2204 Harlem Ave, North Riverside, IL 60546 and River Forest 7265 W. Lake Street, River Forest, IL 60305

PADS, Oak Park Temple

This opportunity is looking for a group of students to volunteer for this time slot.

Grab a few friends and make the commitment together!

What:provide set up for the transitional housing facility; including setting up beds and meal tables, preparing coffee, prepare breakfast place settings, etc.

When: every 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Tuesday from September-May; 4:45pm-5:45/6pm.

Where:Oak Park Temple, 1235 Harlem Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302 (a 5-10 minute walk from THS)
