Benefit Night for Eva Marin

Description: Eva Marin is battling breast cancer and her family and friends have organized an event to help relieve some of the financial strain.

St. Ferdinand’s Fish Fry 2018

Date: Fridays 3/8/19 – 4/12/19

Hours: 2 possible shifts: 4-6pm or 6-9pm

Location: 3100 N. Mason Ave; Chicago, IL 60634

Volunteer Description: help this annual event run smoothly by serving meals, resetting tables, assisting in nightly events, welcoming guests, and more!

byoBOX – Wonder Works Weekly Event!

What:This program is geared at some of the older elementary school children.  Bring your own box engages participants in play that incorporates design, construction, imagination, engineering, experimentation, and fun! Assist teachers and children with activities.

Sewing Workshops – Wonder Works Weekly Event!

What:Join Lucia our sewing master, in the art room every Thursday to learn all about the basics of sewing! These hands-on projects are the perfect introduction to sewing for kids 3 and up. Assist teachers and children with activities.

When: Thursdays 3:30pm

Literartly Workshops – Wonder Works Weekly Event!

What:Children will Discover the world of make-believe by immersing themselves in new worlds and exciting adventures.  Storytelling is an art form older than writing and still engages children and adults in a way only stories can. Join us in North Avenue Artworks following story time for a unique opportunity to explore the artistic styling of an illustrator related to each day’s stories. Assist teachers and children with activities.

S.T.E.A.M. Workshops – Wonder Works Weekly Event!

What:You never know what to expect on  S.T.E.A.M. Friday! Each Friday Wonder Works children will be experimenting with S.T.E.A.M. based learning! All activities will be hands-on and children will get to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math through age-appropriate guided activities. Assist teachers and children with activities.

When: Fridays and Saturdays at 3:30pm, Sundays TBD

After School Program at First Baptist Preschool and Kindergarten

What: Reading help: working 1 on 1 with their Buddy – reading and then talking about what was read, making up stories related to what was read, working on a craft related to what was read. Math help: working 1 on 1 with their Buddy – drilling with flash cards, timed worksheets, working on simple story problems, talking about math concepts (addition, subtraction, beginning multiplication, division).

When: Mondays – Thursdays: 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM

Spark Tutoring in Oak Park Elementary Schools

What: tutoring students (help with homework, study for tests, etc) in the After School Hephzibah Program (k-5)

When: Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm starting in November

New  Ongoing Service Opportunity! – Sanctuary Hospice

What: read to the patient, play board games, talk, hold their hand, pray with them, polish their nails, write a letter, do a craft project, assist with a meal.

When: based on your schedule

THS Library – Inventory Project

What: volunteer to help stamp and box books for inventory.

When: before school Monday-Friday until the project is finished.
