Time-Sensitive Service Opportunities


Students are invited to consider partaking in the following upcoming service opportunities:

Thanksgiving Food Drive Delivery to Marillac St. Vincent’s!

What: join Blazers Seeking Justice to help deliver and sort the food from the Thanksgiving Food Drive!

When: Friday, November 16, 2018 (3:15-6pm)

Where: Marillac St. Vincent Social Services (Transportation provided from Trinity!)

Sign Up:  Fill out this Google Form to sign up. Permission form due to Campus Ministry (208) by November 14th!

Assisting Admissions Office at THS

What: Call 8th grade students to remind them about the entrance exam

When: Tues- Thurs November Nov 27-29 after school

Where: Admissions Office, Room 100

St. Nicholas Party at Hephzibah Home

What: After break, when we are rested and happy, we want to bring happiness to others via the spirit of St. Nicholas. St. Nicholas has become a worldwide symbol of love and generosity. We plan to celebrate St. Nicholas Day with the children at Hephzibah Home. We’ll do activities, hold discussions and sing songs, all with the goal of bringing holiday joy.

When: Friday, November 30th, 3:15-5pm

Where: Hephzibah Home, Oak Park (Transportation provided from Trinity!)

Santa Breakfast at Trinity

What: Help kids with crafts or serving at the Santa Breakfast

When: 12/15; 8am-1pm

Where: SMGAF at Trinity

After School Program at First Baptist Preschool and Kindergarten

What: Reading help: working 1 on 1 with their Buddy – reading and then talking about what was read, making up stories related to what was read, working on a craft related to what was read. Math help: working 1 on 1 with their Buddy – drilling with flash cards, timed worksheets, working on simple story problems, talking about math concepts (addition, subtraction, beginning multiplication, division).

When: Mondays – Thursdays: 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM

Where: 820 Ontario, Oak Park

Spark Tutoring in Oak Park Elementary Schools

What: tutoring students (help with homework, study for tests, etc) in the After School Hephzibah Program (k-5)

When: Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm starting in November

Where: various Oak Park elementary schools

New  Ongoing Service Opportunity! – Sanctuary Hospice

What: read to the patient, play board games, talk, hold their hand, pray with them, polish their nails, write a letter, do a craft project, assist with a meal.

When: based on your schedule

Where: several locations in Chicagoland

THS Library – Inventory Project

What: volunteer to help stamp and box books for inventory.

When: before school Monday-Friday until the project is finished.

Where: Library/MAC

Note: this is dusty work, so perhaps bring a change of clothes.
