Students attend at least one retreat each year during their time at Trinity.
Freshman Year – Freshman Day of Service
Freshmen students participate in the Freshman Day of Service. Led by faculty members and senior leaders, each freshman ventures out to one of 15 different organizations in the Chicagoland area. Upon return, the retreat ants gather with their groups to reflect on their experience. The retreat introduces each student to Trinity’s understanding of service in light of our Dominican identity.
This year, the Freshman Day of Service took place on Friday, August 18th, 2017.
Sophomore Year – Light of Faith
Sophomores participate in a retreat called “Light of Life” that emphasizes the importance of finding light in times of darkness. The retreat takes place at Concordia University and is led by upperclasswomen interested in creating a safe, nurturing, and celebratory environment for their peers to reflect and build relationships with their classmates.
The Sophomore Retreat will take place on April 20th, 2018.
Junior Year – Women of Wisdom
In order to better appreciate our own identity as women, the Juniors consider those women in their lives who have made a significant impact on who they are and who they want to become. Students also consider their identity in light of their faith and explore different tools for coping with stress and staying true to themselves. The retreat is held at Concordia University.
The Junior Retreat took place on September 14th, 2017.
Senior Year – The Senior Farewell
The week of graduation, seniors come together as a group to reflect on their four years at Trinity. Students have time to share memories and create goals for the years to come. The event takes place at Trinity High School following a class barbecue hosted by Student Activities and the Executive Council.
This year’s Senior Farewell will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2016.
Campus Ministry offers two optional three-day overnight Kairos retreats each year. Juniors and Seniors are eligible to participate in this rewarding experience that is a tradition at Trinity High School. The retreat takes place at Loyola University Retreats and Ecology Campus in Woodstock, Illinois.
The 2016-2017 Kairos Retreats will take place December 14th-16th and February 14th-16th. Seniors have registration priority; Juniors are welcome to attend if there is space. See Ms. Visser with questions about specifics and scholarships. View the application/sign up materials here.
