Extended Essay
Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, diploma candidates write a 4,000 word essay on a topic of their choice. The goal of this project is to enable students to experience in-depth, independent research similar to what will be required in college.
Creativity, Action and Service (CAS)
A fundamental part of the IB curriculum, this requirement of 150 hours of community service, leadership, school involvement, and creativity takes seriously the importance of life outside the world of scholarship. The goal of educating the whole person and fostering a more compassionate citizenry comes alive in an immediate way when students reach beyond themselves and their studies to assist others.

- Freshman and sophomore students who meet the requirements may be enrolled in Trinity’s Pre-IB courses in English, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Students are introduced to the instructional methods and expectations of the program. At the end of sophomore year, students who have maintained a recommended B- average in Trinity’s Pre-IB courses are formally invited to participate in the full diploma program.
- Junior and senior students are officially recognized as IB students. In addition to being assessed by Trinity faculty, students submit papers and projects to examiners around the globe for grading. In May of their junior and senior years, students sit for exams in each of the subject areas.
