In November Therese Black, English Teacher, took six students to the Creative Writing Festival at University of Wisconsin- Whitewater, an annual event attended by a great number of Wisconsin and Chicago area schools.
The students submit creative pieces in advance in one of eleven categories. The event consists of a keynote speech by a published writer and hour- long workshops on the submitted works with the guidance of writers and professors. At the end of the day there is a big award ceremony for the top works in each category as decided by the professionals in each category. Trinity Senior Maddie Restivo won Second Place in the Humor/Comedy Writing category with a piece entitled: “A Poem for Break-Up.”
