Trinity High School’s Youth Ending Hunger hosted its annual food drive, collecting non-perishable food items for Marillac House, which serves the needs of those in the west side of Chicago. Each Trinity homeroom competed to see who brought in the most food.
Trinity faculty member Maggie Meier said, “We are appealing to students’ compassion and competitiveness; anything to bring in the most food.”
Student Youth Ending Hunger officers senior Shannon McGinnis and junior Erica Toth are helping mediate the food drive. McGinnis said, “Last year, Marillac House was about to close their doors because they were out of food, when the Trinity bus pulled up and was fully stocked. It was amazing knowing our community helped and continues to help those in need.”
Toth said, “This experience has opened my eyes to see all the people in need, and how important it is to take time to give, especially during the holiday season.”
