This prestigious award honors a friend of the Trinity community who is a leader in the development of skills for lifelong learning, an ethic of care and the desire for excellence. This year's recipient is Monsignor Kenneth Velo, for his distinction in supporting scholarship, stewardship and leadership.
Monsignor Kenneth Velo has been involved with spiritual development through his career as an archdiocesan priest. From the time he began his pastoral journey at St. Angela Parish on the west side, his life-changing experience as Joseph Cardinal Bernadin's executive assistant, Senior Director of the Office of Catholic Collaboration and his more recent designation as the President of The Big Shoulders Foundation, he has been mentoring stewards, enhancing the scholarship and scholastic efforts of Catholic youth, and raising the awareness of their needs to a multitude of corporate leaders.
Kenneth Velo is a man who is passionate about the values and benefits of Catholic education. Through his efforts he has provided this opportunity for so many of Chicagoland's youth. Monsignor Velo has worked to promote the mission of Trinity High School in various endeavors and most recently as Honorary Co-Chair of the Trinity Capital Campaign. Trinity High School is honored to have experienced his leadership but most of all, privileged to be in the circle of his friendship. We stand among many who applaud his life's work.
