The Awesome Visionary
In 1992, Sister Michelle Germanson, O.P., became the first President of Trinity High School. Her vision was to elevate this seventy-three year-old high school to be the premier Catholic all-girls school in metropolitan Chicago. She set out to accomplish this goal through the values of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation.
Sister Michelle's primary focus was to renew the traditions of academic excellence as well as to invigorate the spirit amongst all those who were a part of the Trinity experience. She created a new administrative team and worked diligently with a committed Board of Directors. As a result, Trinity High School became the first school in Illinois to adopt block scheduling and the second school in Illinois to become fully accredited as an International Baccalaureate World School; both goals were accomplished by Fall, 1995.
Over the next five years Sister Michelle led the efforts of the board, faculty and staff to advance Trinity's academic, athletic and financial goals during a time when single-gender education became even more challenging. Recognizing that student potential resides in mind, body and spirit, she envisioned the development of a new and much- needed athletic facility.
With Sister Michelle's direction and the committed endeavors of the 2000-2001 Board of Directors, a strategy was developed to construct this new facility. Now as you stand here, the first construction site on Trinity's grounds since 1962, the Trinity community charges you to think, work and play with the exuberance and energy that motivated a most dedicated woman to see a dream become a reality.
May this awesome place, dedicated to Sister Michelle Germanson, inspire the spirit of every Trinity student and stand as testimony to one woman's undaunted vision and living proof that determination, spirit and faith can create positive and enduring results.
