Valentines to Support Our Troops
The THS Freshman Class sent 200 valentines to the A Company, 1-159th Aviation Regiment (Black Sheep) in Iraq. We received the following letter in response.
"On behalf of the soldiers of A Company, 1-159th Aviation Regiment (Black Sheep) and myself I wanted to thank you for the multitude of candy and more importantly the messages we received from you. Your act of kindness is a reminder of why we put on our uniform everyday and strap into our aircraft. Our mission is not easy, and the days spent away from our families and friends back home is the hardest, but know that you make a difference.
As a token of appreciation I have enclosed a flag, a symbol of the freedoms found only in our nation. I flew this flag in a UH-60 helicopter over Baghdad on the day of the first free elections held in Iraq, a country whose oppressed citizens have never known such freedom."
Captain Boyle suggests we fly this flag proudly over our school and let it remind us that freedom is not free and although the cost is great perhaps the youth of Iraq will someday look upon their flag the same way.
Trinity High School continues to pray for our alumnae who are serving in the armed services and for the families of alumnae as well as for all troops. May God's blessings be upon them and return them home safely.
