Math Team Competes In The
Concordia University MathSci Bowl
Monday, November 5, 2007 Trinity’s Math team competed against 10 other teams from 3 states at the Concordia University MathSci Bowl. The competition consisted of a timed series of matches. Teams were asked a 10 point tossup question. Winner of the tossup was then given an opportunity to answer a 20 point bonus question.
Trinity’s team was coached by Mr. Bob Lewis and led by captain senior Katie Grunow. The team of juniors Caroline Brander, Kayleigh Vercnocke, Maria Mangiarulo, Monica Huback, and Dina Loumakis, and sophomore Andreja Silunas battled through five rounds of competition to make it into the quarter finals. There they faced LSA from Decatur in a rematch. Despite an early and impressive lead, Trinity lost in the final second of play 110 to 125 when the time ran out before Trinity could answer their final bonus question. Congratulations girls on a great showing.
