Achievement Scholarship Program
OsCiriah Sostan of Chicago was named one of 3,000 National Achievement Scholarship Program participants being referred to U.S. colleges and universities. These students scored in the top five percent of more than 120,000 Black Americans who requested consideration in the 2006 National Achievement Program. The program was initiated in 1964 specifically to honor academically promising Black American High School Students. The annual scholarship competition is conducted by The National Merit Scholarship Program and is open to all U.S. high school students. OsCiriah is hoping to attend Columbia University in New York or the University of Chicago. She is considering a major in medicine.
