IB vs. AP

How is IB different from Advanced Placement (AP)?
    •Holistic vs. Single Strength
Students in the IB program are challenged to develop skills in several areas by following a well-rounded curriculum. All IB students are expected to blend academics with school involvement and leadership in order to develop the whole person. Advanced Placement students test in just their strength areas. In IB, students have ample opportunities to demonstrate what they know and are able to communicate.
    •Portfolios, papers and projects
Assessment and success in the IB program is not limited to the outcome of any single examination. Each class submits papers and projects to be graded by Trinity teachers as well as national and international moderators appointed by the IB Organization.
Examples of assessments:
     • English and Foreign Language classes submit audio tapes of group and individual reactions to questions.
    • The "Group 4 Project" enables higher level biology students to design and implement a 10-hour lab integrating biology with other academic areas.
    • The Art/Design students prepare "one-woman shows" of their art pieces for an examiner.
    • History, Mathematics and ITGS students submit papers and projects for examination.
    • Biology and chemistry students submit lab books for moderation.
